Our animals are raised with the love and care that only two healthcare professionals turned farmers can offer. We value their existence and have deep gratitude to be able to raise them for our family and yours. We don’t take lightly or for granted their lives. They live well so we can eat well!
We raise KuneKune and KuneKune-Idaho Pasture Pig mixes. Our pigs are fed 100% USDA Organic feed (corn and soy free) that is produced an hour north of the farm. Their diet is supplemented with organic throw-out veggies from our dear friends at Harlequin Produce as well as lots of time grazing during the spring and summer! That’s right, our pigs get much of their diet from grazing on pasture grasses.
We use Superior Meats for butchering as a tried and true local butcher (state-licensed and inspected). Here is a link to their processing fees page and you can learn more about the cuts and processing that you prefer: https://superiorjerkymt.com/processing
Buying Pork:
For either a whole or half pig you choose your cuts, types of sausage, bacon style, etc from the cut list and options offered by the butcher shop. You can also keep the pig whole if desired.
Pricing:
$5/lb for a whole hog plus the cost of butchering
$5.50/lb for a half hog plus the cost of butchering
“How does that work?”
You will pay $5 or $5.50 per pound for the hanging weight of the pig (estimated 120-160 pounds/whole hog). The additional butcher cost is dependent on what cuts you decide on, estimated at $175-$300.
How much meat? For a whole pig, you will have a small chest freezer full of pork.
Placing a bulk order requires a non-refundable deposit ($150 whole/$75 half hog) & remainder is due upon delivery. Paying for bulk meat is an investment toward eating delicious & healthy, local meat throughout the year. We recognize the financial burden of paying a premium price for your food. We offer a payment plan option for those who would like to pay off their order throughout the year (remember “layaway”?).
Full/remaining payment is due at delivery or pick-up with check, Venmo, or cash. Credit cards are accepted with a 3.5% processing fee.
